Damnoen Saduak is a district in central Thailand. The town is famous for its floating market called the Damnoen Saduak floating market which is held daily. Damnoen Saduak floating market is located about 110 Kilometer from Bangkok. The reason the market is called as floating market is because of the reason that the market is completely on boats floating on canal water and both the vendor and the buyer are on boats.
The floating market is busy from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM where one can witness hundreds of small rowing boats of both the vendors and buyers. People buy and sell the products, exchange food, vegetable, fruits which are grown in their own orchards. Most people of Damnoen Saduak live on both sides of the canal and major occupation of the natives of Saduak is agriculture.
One can see people growing various kinds of fruits and vegetables in this fertile land. Some of these fruits and vegetable that are grown by the natives include oranges, grapes, papayas, beans and lots more. Transportation of these goods to the main market is also easy as there are several small canals connecting the main canal where market is located. Hence, these small canals make an easy path for farmers for taking their goods to the market. One can see farmers loading all their goods to small rowing boats and taking it to markets through small canal paths.
The market and the surrounding area is a major tourist attraction and one can also see great chedi in Nakhon Pathom. The rose garden located near the market is also a wonderful place to see. At Damnoen Saduak market, one can watch and experience the traditional Thai houses made of teak, their small rowing boat which acts as a transport medium and the way they live.
